First American Apparel Purchase

I never understood what the big deal was with American Apparel, but I succumbed and made my first purchase today. I couldn't help it! For once, I found something I liked that was reasonably priced (given, it was on-sale). Also, goddamn, I do love bright, enticing colors.

In other news, I am quite anxious and excited about my band's acceptance into this year's county battle of the bands. We've been dancing and groovin' most of today and I have to say...I THINK I AM READY. WE ARE READY. I also have the cuuuuuutestttt cupcake dress to wear for the battle.

I dropped an egg today
and it made me sad to think of what could have been... That delicate little white egg could have been something, but now he's lying, yolk splattered, body, crushed, on my nice hardwood floor. He could have been part of a chocolate cake, or part of a cupcake, or an omelette, and if he was incubated properly, even a chick -- but now he is useless, smushed, and in my trashcan.

Why does my hair seem to grow at the rate a sitting rock moves towards any given point (it doesn't!) and why do the hairs in my armpits grow at an alarming rate of nearly an inch per every hour?!?!?!

Grandpa

My 90-something-year-old grandpa scuttles through my halls with his arms clamped tightly around his chest, coughing on occassion and always remarking about how cold it is, even in his sweater and winter jacket inside our house. He smokes cigars in his car and listens to old radio programs loud enough to make a body deaf. I kiss him on the cheek and beam at him and try to get him to open up about his life. To tell the truth, though, I don't know how to go about it. He talks about his travels and how he'll never travel to Japan (but how can I blame him when he has watched so many of his friends die at their hands?). I am convinced all he has ever known and loved has gone and left him but at the same time I am convinced that he will never die.
